De Kat - recycling life

Here's shots that have just been published in the Sept/Oct edition of De Kat magazine. I both wrote the article and shot pics of the lives of people who recycle for a living.
Most of the work was done at Valhalla rubbish dump in Pretoria. The last shoot was at Allied recycling in Pretoria, which is a recycling depot.
Get your hands on the article and have a read. It is amazing how people with a lot of will power can make a living out something so basic.

Okay, the exhibition came and went. i sold a lot of work. here's some shots you may enjoy.

Some recent work that you may have seen. Here interiors that i shot at Alpine Attitude in Pta for diffrent publications. Then some covers for My Week magazine and a shot of Morne Steyn (springbok) that was also used on My Week's cover. The guy with the flowers is Brian Leib. Shot for The Property magazine. Okay, so I'm lazy today and i just chucked a bunch of stuff together. I need a holiday!

like always i haven't posted for a long while. i just had to share this. here is an article and photos of Dutch A1 driver Jeroen Bleekemolen that i did. it is my first article and photos in GQ and i am quite psyched about it. yes i am cheap and took a pic of it on my bedroom carpet! yes, i am too lazy to load the rest of the shots!

Hey, i thought i'd load some of my commercial work for you guys to see. (im actually a bit bored!)

Here you can see Springbok cricket player Albie Morkel for the cover of My Week magazine. Joleen and Kai getting into cigars and Cuban culture for another my Week cover. Comedian Kedibone playing on the slide and 5 of ZA's biggest property developers posing for Property magazine. and finally Egoli's Darryl Desmarais with his daughter.

It is 2009 and truthfully i'd like to get into writing a bit more. I miss Wegbreek and Mooiloop and the writing i did for them.

my first hOlGa attEmPt

so, i've felt a distinct lack of creativity in photography lately. so i borrowed my friend gerhard's Holga and shot a bit of film. the union buildings are just outside our flat, so obviously they feature.
then Debra, Marieke, Gus and I went to feed the ducks at LC sports grounds and here are the results.
